The Village Board is seeking applications to fill the student member vacancy on Plan Commission.

Pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 61.35 and 62.23 the village hereby creates a “Village Plan Commission.”

• Pursuant to the provisions of Wis. Stat. § 62.23(1)(a), the commission shall consist of the village president, 6 citizen members, and an alternate member.
• The village president may annually appoint one village board trustee to serve in their place. The individual appointed shall hold office from May 1 to the succeeding April 30.
• The citizen members shall be appointed by the village president, subject to confirmation by the village board, for staggered three (3) year terms beginning on May 1. Citizen members shall be persons of recognized experience and qualifications pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 62.23(1)(a).
• The alternate member shall be appointment by the village president, subject to confirmation by the village board, to hold office from May 1 to the succeeding April 30. When a member of the commission is absent or does not vote because of a conflict of interest, the alternate member shall act with full power in place of such member, including being counted for purposes of determining a quorum.
• The village president may appoint one student member subject to confirmation by the village board. The student appointee shall serve as a non-voting member, shall not participate in any closed session, and shall not be counted in determining whether a quorum is present.
• If a vacancy occurs during the middle of a term, a successor shall be appointed as provided under this section to fill the unexpired term.
• The plan commission shall annually elect from its members a chairperson, a vice chair person, and a secretary.

The plan commission shall have the function, powers, and duties prescribed under Wis. Stats. § 62.23, and all legislative enactments amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto, and such other powers or duties as shall be vested in it by state law or the village board.
