Salary/Benefits: $105,000 annual plus Full County Benefits

Purpose of Position:

The Physician Associate is credentialed and privileged in family practice and collaborates with a multidisciplinary treatment team. He/she is able to perform advanced or specialized services and the performance of acts of medical diagnosis and treatment. Assessment, diagnosis, treatment plans and/or referral will be made in accordance with medical protocols on file and/or evidence-based standards of care as published in current literature.

A supervising physician will be available to the physician associate for consultation, referral, and periodic chart reviews.

Essential Job Functions:

The following description of duties may not be all inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.

Serve our patient population primary care and acute care needs. Support mission and goal achievement, organizational quality and patient-centered care. Comply with organizational policies, procedures, standards of care and related laws and regulations including HIPAA and OSHA regulations. Ensure the efficient and effective flow of patients during scheduled clinics through joint planning and problem solving with other clinic staff members.

  • Provides expertise and support to office staff and clinical administration in assessing the clinical practice environment.
  • Utilizes research findings as a basis for practice and improving processes.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary health team members to provide comprehensive care to primary care and urgent care and family planning patients.
  • Provides educational programs/information to patients, families and healthcare providers.
  • Advance personal knowledge base by pursuing continuing education in order to enhance professional competence.
  • Participate in the Clinical Quality Improvement and Quality Management meetings and other meetings as requested by Leadership Team.
  • Promote individual and organizational integrity by exhibiting ethical behavior to maintain high standards.
  • Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional development to remain abreast with professional literature and current health care management trends and rules in RHC regulation.

Skills and Abilities

  • A minimum of one years’ experience is desirable. Active NCCPA certification from an AREPA accredited program preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of techniques and procedures, medical and lab equipment and testing procedures, medication.
  • Considerable knowledge of motivational interviewing and counseling techniques.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, deal tactfully and patiently with clients, establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data, use initiative and judgment, maintain effective working relationships with other related agencies, professionals and citizen groups, perform and record total physical examination, obtain vaginal, cervical, urethral and rectal cultures, and other laboratory specimens appropriate.
  • Skill in diagnostic procedures for diseases and the drug therapy needed for treatment of these medical conditions.
  • Must be proficient in the use of medical and laboratory equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s license.

  • Strong organizational skills required, sound judgment and ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and interpret policies and procedures and effectively communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physician Associate.
  • Licensed by the Oregon Medical Board or eligible for license within 1 month of hire.
  • Current DEA, BLS/CPR Certification.
