SUNY Niagara is seeking dedicated, motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise for our Electrical Technology Instructor position to continue to move the program forward in innovative ways. Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.
The successful candidate for this position will have relevant professional experience and/or focused academic study necessary to provide instruction in a full range of courses including, but not limited to:
Principles of Electricity;
Programmable Logic Controllers;
Power Systems;
Digital Electronics;
Industrial Automation Networks, Measurement and Instrumentation;
Control Systems Design, Integration and Implementation;
Electronic Troubleshooting and Diagnostics; and Robotics.
Typical Work Activities include:
- Maintaining subject matter currency
- Developing and revising curriculum
- Implementing use of modern processes and technologies
- Assessment of program learning outcomes; advisement of students
Essential Functions include the ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population, ability to speak in front of groups of people, and ability to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community.
Required Qualifications include:
- Journeyman electrician plus 1 year of experience
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology plus 4 years practical experience in electrical technology and/or field work
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering or related field plus 2 years practical experience in electrical technology and/or field work
- Experience with modern electrical or control technologies
Desirable Qualifications include:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering or related field
- Teaching/Training experience, in the electrical technology field preferred
- Experience at a community college environment
