Job Description SummaryThe Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The technician is a critical and active role to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repair(s). The technician partners and communicates with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with GE excellence.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Work with site & hub leadership to execute contractual obligations and activities on a daily basis, covering any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators.
- Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable‑pitch and variable‑speed turbines.
- Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision; observe all safety requirements.
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis when required.
- Document all work performed using computer‑based service reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completion of a Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience.
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
- Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including required gear.
- Willingness to work in a range of environments including industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities.
- Effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations.
- Take initiative and work without direct supervision.
- Flexible to work rotating shift schedules and on‑call per site needs.
- Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, electrical, or electronics field from an accredited college or university.
- Technical certification in wind energy or electrical/electronic field.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside the wind farm.
- Wind turbine experience.
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
- Experience using hydraulic power tools.
- Experience with heavy equipment and a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
This is not a remote position. The work location for this position includes all wind sites within Hub Oregon 1. Applicants are expected to work at all sites within this hub and report to work at any site within the hub as assigned by the manager.
