Power Generation Risk Engineering Consultant
Zurich North America is seeking a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant or Risk Engineering Specialist with extensive experience in power plant operations to join the Global Energy – Power Generation team. This work‑from‑home role is preferably located in the Western U.S., with up to 50% travel within the U.S.
Responsibilities- Advanced risk assessment of plant machinery, fire protection equipment, and business interruption risks within the power generation industry.
- Providing consultative services to customers, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigating major losses, and managing programs.
- Delivering power generation training for Risk Engineering staff, underwriting staff, service design coordination, mentoring, marketing, and loss investigations.
- Managing account risk portfolio and providing account‑level engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
- Marketing Zurich products with underwriting professionals and agents across company business segments.
- Developing and implementing customer service strategies that reduce loss and improve operations.
Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years’ experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years’ experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area OR
- Zurich Certified Apprentice, an Associate degree and 6+ years’ experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area AND experience working in a team environment.
Risk Engineering Specialist:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years’ experience in the Risk Engineering area OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years’ experience in the Risk Engineering area OR
- Zurich Certified Apprentice, an Associate degree and 8+ years’ experience in the Risk Engineering area AND knowledge of exposures, controls, and best practice risk improvement.
- 10+ years experience in Risk Engineering or power generation plant operations/maintenance.
- Military experience in propulsion plants and power generation equipment.
- Related energy industry experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Advanced knowledge of exposures controls and industry segment.
- Certification in a specialty area such as Risk Engineering Power Generation Machinery Breakdown assessments.
The combined salary range for this position is $98,300.00 – $. For the Senior Risk Engineering Consultant range is $98,300.00 – $, with a 15% short‑term incentive bonus eligibility. For the Risk Engineering Specialist range is $ – $, with a 20% short‑term incentive bonus eligibility.
Additional InformationFinal candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle record background check. The role may include a company car depending on location and mileage. This position is fully remote or a virtual office.
