Perform preliminary engineering to ensure the safe and reliable function of BPA mechanical devices, systems and equipment as a Mechanical Engineer!

Duties
  • Preform preliminary engineering involving the design, development, commission, manufacture, operation, maintenance and disposal of mechanical devices and systems.
  • Ensure mechanical devices, systems, and equipment function safely, reliably, efficiently and economically.
  • Collect data and conduct reliability investigations of equipment or system being maintained to determine how long they will last without needing repair; quantify and report the results.
  • Analyze and evaluate the design and performance characteristics of the items and their test methods.
Requirements

Applicants must meet the following education requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET or a program that includes differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: statics, dynamics; strength of materials; fluid mechanics, hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; nature and properties of materials; and any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics or electronics OR
  • College-level education, training and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical; and mathematical science underlying engineering, and a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering science and techniques and the applications to one of the branches of engineering

Applicants must also possess the following:

  • Work experience involving the generation and/or application of theories, principles, practical concepts, systems, and process related to design, fluid dynamics manufacturing processes, machine design, thermodynamics, etc.
  • Knowledge of traditional engineering science disciplines and advanced mathematics, physical science disciplines, environmental science, and social science disciplines.
