Introduction

Position Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records of inmate monetary account balances, preparing institution checks, coordinating distribution of general fund and institution checks; verifying inmate accounts regarding with holdings, processing electronic payments, utilizing computer systems to enter deposit and journal voucher information, processing canteen and account statements, maintaining records, preparing reports and assisting the Building and Grounds Superintendent with various tasks.
In addition, this position is the primary backup for the inmate payroll program, inmate savings accounts, releases and inmate transfers from the institution and Tax Refund Intercept Program (TRIP). This position will provide intermittent backup for other business office positions as needed.
Salary Information
The starting pay is $22.31/hr for the entry level and $26.08/hr for the Senior level, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. The pay schedule/range is 02-11 for the entry level and 02-13 for the Senior level. A 12‑month probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre‑employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre‑employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Working with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and fiscal management information systems (Quick Books, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Using standard office equipment (printers, file storage, etc.)
- Working with accounting/fiscal processes and procedures (accounts payable/receivable, fiscal auditing, account balancing/reconciling, etc.)
In addition to the above and in order to be considered at the Senior level, applicants will have experience:
- Working with State of Wisconsin accounting and fiscal management policies and procedures.
- Utilizing cash control techniques and procedures.
