Bilingual Spanish Speech-Language Pathologist – Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program

Licensed on a 190 calendar.

Reports to:

Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program Coordinator.

FLSA Status:
Exempt.

POSITION OVERVIEW

An Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) contributes to the overall learning and success of our youngest students (from birth until they reach kindergarten age). Language is the cornerstone of all education and a Bilingual SLP has the opportunity to offer this powerful support and impact doubly so. This role offers access to our bilingual students so they can thrive in our learning environment.

Of equal significance is the support offered to parents and families as they help their young learners develop. This position also supports the monolingual teachers and therapists that work with our bilingual learners through planning and providing appropriate activities and programming for their unique learning style. This position is integral to ensuring that bilingual learners receive culturally and linguistically appropriate evaluations and services.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1. A master’s degree or higher.
  • 2. One of the following:
  • a. Speech Language Pathology License as issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology OR
  • b. Oregon teaching License with Special

    Education:

    Communication Disorders endorsement and American Speech and Hearing Association. Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech Language Pathology, or actively pursuing this certificate.
  • 3. Demonstrated successful experience in special education, including work with high needs populations.
  • 4. Successful experience working with children bilingually, birth to 5 years old.
  • 5. Fluent oral and written Spanish communication skills. Ability to conduct any appropriate testing pertinent to the position, in Spanish.
  • 6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
