The Catheterization Laboratory Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves preparing patients, operating specialized imaging equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety within the catheterization laboratory.
Key Responsibilities- P repare patients for cardiac catheterization and related procedures.
- Operate and maintain imaging and monitoring equipment during procedures.
- Assist physicians with catheter insertions, angioplasty, stent placements, and other interventional techniques.
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond to emergencies as directed.
- Maintain sterile techniques and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Document procedures accurately and update patient records.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver quality patient care.
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the lab.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Prior experience working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
- Advanced training in interventional cardiology procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
