Manager Underwriting – Providence Health & Services
OverviewProvidence Health Plan seeks a Manager of Underwriting for Association Health Plans and Small Group commercial fully insured line of business. The role develops underwriters, drives underwriting risk, pricing models, procedures, and ensures high efficiency and accuracy while collaborating with key leaders, underwriters, actuaries, and business partners.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with key leaders to consult on technical underwriting, detailed concepts, and implementations.
- Develop and maintain underwriting risk, analysis, pricing models, processes, and procedures for Association Health Plans and Small Group commercial fully insured line of business.
- Maintain a high degree of efficiency and accuracy in all areas of responsibility.
- Track and enforce internal and external service standards and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Facilitate smooth integration with other functional areas within the Plan.
- Oversee and develop underwriting team dynamics, mentoring underwriters reporting to this role.
- Provide leadership and guidance to maximize underwriting team effectiveness while reflecting the Mission and values of the Plan.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Mathematics, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in underwriting.
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing processes, guidelines, procedures, and policies in collaboration with other impacted areas.
- Minimum 5 years of extensive underwriting and consulting experience in large group (including self‑funded and other funding arrangements and association business) and Medicare product lines.
