Lead Machinist - Swing Shift

Location: Clackamas, OR

Pay: $35+/hour plus swing shift differential (DOE)

Schedule: Swing Shift – 10‑hour shifts, approximately 2:30 PM to 12:30 AM / 1:00 AM

Job shop environment with a strong productivity focus and a tight‑knit team of roughly 20 employees. The company has doubled production and order volume since April and is planning to bring on leadership as business ramps back up.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and oversee swing shift machining operations with minimal supervision
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC Milling, CNC Turning, 3‑, 4‑, and 5‑axis vertical milling, Mill/Turn machines, and manual mills and lathes as needed
  • Build and utilize jigs and fixtures
  • Support prototyping and short‑run production
  • Modify existing CNC programs to meet machining requirements
  • Maintain productivity, quality, and workflow during swing shift
  • Act as the on‑site decision‑maker when management is not present

What You Need to Have
  • 2‑3+ years of CNC machining experience (more welcome)
  • Strong knowledge of milling, turning, and multi‑axis machining
  • Ability to lead a team and run the shop independently during swing shift
  • High level of motivation, accountability, and drive
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced job shop environment
The Musts
  • Proven reliability and strong work ethic
  • Leadership mindset with the ability to keep production moving
  • Comfortable making decisions without direct supervision
  • Ability to read prints and maintain tight tolerances
Preferred
  • Experience in job shop or high‑mix/low‑volume environments
  • Familiarity with Mastercam and/or Chemworks
  • Experience mentoring or leading machinists
  • Programming not required, but ability to modify programs is expected
Timing

Hiring is anticipated February‑March, but strong candidates will be considered sooner.
