Job SummaryUnder general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nurses care activities with other health care disciplines.
Essential Responsibilities- Assessment: Performs accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational needs and discharge planning. Identifies deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassesses patients throughout hospitalization. Performs complete discharge assessment.
- Planning: Develops an individual nursing plan of care sensitive to developmental needs, coordinates patient care activities and discharge planning with hospital, clinic departments, and community agencies. Develops patient teaching plan and documents it. Appropriately delegates patient care activities, establishes priorities, and classifies acuity level of assigned patients.
- Implementation: Initiates appropriate measures based on protocols for the management of medical and/or surgical patients, follows physician’s plan of care, documents in the EMR, and utilizes a multidisciplinary approach. Performs necessary procedures, teaches patients, accurately calculates and administers medications, and initiates appropriate measures in emergency situations.
- Evaluation: Evaluates assessment methods, plan of care, and patient response to treatment. Participates in unit quality assurance activities.
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- Basic Life Support
- Computer keyboarding skills.
- Must pass telemetry test within 6 months of hire or transfer to unit.
- Previous health care experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
- Recent experience in acute care or skilled nursing, utilizing the nursing process, effective problem solving and communication skills.
- Demonstrated clinical judgment with dialysis, renal, diabetic, and medical patients.
- Experience with insulin drips.
- Previous telemetry experience.
- Med/Surg certification.
