Prevent and reduce loss due to bad debt, cash over/short, and civil liabilities; reduce shrink and improve margins. Fred Meyer requires all associates to perform tasks safely in accordance with corporate policies and state and federal laws, and to demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Location:
Portland, OR | Salary: $97,300.00–$ (full‑time).
- Detect, deter, and/or detain external theft suspects.
- Identify and mitigate areas of high theft.
- Monitor large shrink areas and report incidents to the Asset Protection Manager.
- Provide credible court testimony as required.
- Support customer and associate relations through communication and training.
- Verify compliance with corporate policies.
- Promote and follow company initiatives related to loss prevention.
- Maintain flexibility to work any shift, overtime, and weekends on a regular basis.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice (or equivalent experience).
- Retail security experience.
- Law enforcement experience.
- High school diploma or GED, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Minimum 18 years of age (21 in Alaska).
- Ability to pass a drug test.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks/projects.
- Familiarity with loss prevention terms and processes.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
- Model Customer‑first behavior by delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to maintain flexibility regarding shifts and overtime.
