Waste Serv through its Contractor - OZO Services is seeking to recruit an Electromechanical Technician.

Position
:
Senior Technical Officer - Electromechanical Technician (Thermal Treatment Facility)

General Overview of Responsibilities
  • Maintain an ongoing electric supply, steam generation, and supply at all times and carry out the required troubleshooting in the minimum possible time to minimise downtime as per health and safety regulations;
  • Prevent and carry out the required troubleshooting on control systems and PLCs;
  • Prevent and solve any technical (mechanical and electrical) issues that may arise;
  • Take decisions directly related to the type and arrangements of specific circuits, PLCs, piping, etc.
  • Establish structured documentation and filing to facilitate retrieval for future reference;
  • Provide sufficient support information to facilitate the decision-making process. Discuss new ideas/required modifications & improvements with the management and/or maintenance team;
  • Assist the management in updating preventive maintenance schedules and ensure that preventive maintenance is done according to the equipment manuals and maintenance schedule;
  • Installation & testing of electrical control panels, sensors & actuators;
  • Installation & testing of pneumatic/hydraulic control systems, sensors & actuators;
  • Installation & testing of steam system ancillaries and piping (incl. boiler and burner ancillaries);
  • Installation and testing of plumbing related to water supplies and drains;
  • Ensure that the Company fulfills its obligations and complies with applicable laws, regulations and standards;
  • Make sure that the completed works meet all safety standards;
  • Contribute and adhere to the safety requirements of the delivery and distribution of electric power and steam;
  • Carry out the necessary repairs and maintenance in accordance with the diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, training programs and manufacturers specifications;
  • Contribute and adhere to the safety requirements of the production, delivery and distribution of steam;
  • Assume ultimate responsibility at all times;
  • Keep oneself updated on developments in the Industry;
  • Ensure a high quality/standard of work and service throughout;
  • Complete job cards and other documentation as requested;
  • May be required to participate in emergency on-call duty – adequate notice shall be provided when possible;
  • Be able to lead the maintenance team;
  • Delegate works to the maintenance team and/or contractor as required;
  • Perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time;
  • Shall be willing to work overtime as required and instructed by his superiors;
  • Attend all obligatory training as required by the company in order to be able to fulfill the role whilst obtaining the relevant knowledge, skills, and techniques;
  • May be requested to perform fabrication works as required.
Eligibility Criteria
  • MQF Level 5 MCAST Undergraduate Diploma in Foundations of Engineering or equivalent from a qualified institution with 5 years of experience OR
  • MQF Level 4 MCAST Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a qualified institution with 10 years of experience;
  • Welding Certificate (MIG, MAW, TIG) will be considered an asset;
  • Electrical Licence A & B;
  • Driving Licence B, Licence C1 will be considered an asset;
  • Experience in a supervisory role will be considered an asset.
Moreover, the selected candidate should have:
  • The ability to follow Safety Standards;
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • A hands-on approach with an eye for detail and good workmanship quality;
  • Satisfactory verbal and written communication skills in English and Maltese and IT Literate;
  • The ability to identify, analyse and solve problems;
  • The ability to work on own initiative;
  • Any related work experience and supervision of a team will be considered an asset;
  • A clean Police Conduct.
