Pipe Layer

I & E Construction is a fast-growing, family-owned full service general contractor, currently looking for experienced Pipelayers in the Beaverton and Northern I-5 Corridor area.

• Laying, joining, aligning, wrapping & sealing of pipe sections, trench compaction with jumping jack and plate compactors, placement of shoring and overall trench safety.
• Ensure that the pipe is laid to exact grades by use of laser, and levels.
• Ensure trenches are dug out to the correct grade by guiding the mainline operator, and/or use of shovels, by following lasers, levels, and other tools as necessary for the completion of the installation.
• Communicate with the top hand to relay information to operators so the pipelayers needs are accommodated without delay to the work.
• Laying Gravity Storm, Sanitary Sewer and Pressure Sewer & Water Mains.
• Ensures that safety, compliance, environmental, and OSHA requirements are always followed.
• Assist with other general labor duties as required
• Vast knowledge of differing types of soils, and shoring techniques. As well as following the OSHA rules and guidelines for trenching and sloping.
• Measure and cut pipes to correct lengths and have knowledge of correct equipment to make said cuts.
• Ensure that all joints, and fittings are inspected, cleaned, aligned, and installed to manufacturers specifications.
• Be able to use equipment to make taps, or drill holes, for auxiliary lines to be connected.
• Ensure bedding around the pipe has been compacted so that no ovaling of the pipe can occur. By means of mechanical equipment or using a shovel chinking.
• Working closely within a team.

• 5+ years related experience.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular daily routine and be able to stand on your feet for a long period of time.
• Ability Frequently kneel, squat, bend, and stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motions
• Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities.
• Work well independently as well as within a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with management, customers, and team members.
• Possess an active Oregon driver’s license and having reliable transportation is necessary
• Must pass a drug test.

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
