Role Summary As a Senior Software Engineer I in the Payments Platform team, you will lead the design and implementation of moderately complex solutions that align with team objectives. You will own ownership of critical product services, collaborate cross‑functionally, and enable your teammates to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all levels of Etsy’s Payments Platform.
• Develop and maintain critical‑path product services.
• Provide detailed and constructive design and code reviews.
• Work cross‑functionally with all Payments teams and other stakeholders to ensure stability and quality of the platform.
• Push code to production early and often using continuous deployment systems.
• Assume additional tasks as the business evolves and as required by local law.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience operating within a large codebase and building robust services.
• Flexibility with different programming languages and cloud‑native environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Leadership in advising and implementing solutions to loosely scoped problems.
• Write maintainable, testable code with a focus on durability.
• Consider the impact of your work on end users and the large‑scale web.
• Experience in both back‑end and front‑end coding in PHP, JavaScript, or similar codebases.

Additional Information Location:
United States – please note that candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered.
