The Department of Digital Media ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position in Digital Cinema Production to begin August 1, 2026.

The digital cinema production faculty member develops and teaches in one or more areas: digital cinema post‑production, screenwriting, producing, directing, and cinematography. Faculty members advise and mentor student projects and interact with local businesses or industry organizations. The faculty member engages in scholarly activities and creative works that contribute to the mission of the university, department, and profession. They also provide service at the department, college, and university levels.

This position supports the Kahlert Applied AI Institute through collaborative research, curriculum development, and initiatives that advance the integration of AI across the University.

The department will accept all qualified applications, but is particularly interested in applicants with experience in Film and Television Producing (development, production, and distribution). The Digital Cinema Production program emphasizes applied, hands‑on learning grounded in practice‑based education and professional preparation. We seek candidates who bring industry‑aligned producing experience into the classroom and demonstrate a strong commitment to student mentorship and engagement.

This position will teach courses in creative producing, line producing, and other production‑related areas at both lower‑ and upper‑division levels.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited institution with an MFA or doctorate in Film Producing, Production, or related field.
  • College‑level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating artificial intelligence concepts and applications into curriculum design and instruction, with the ability to contextualize AI within the cinema discipline and advance students’ understanding of its relevance and impact.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in cinema production‑related areas.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: digital cinema post‑production, screenwriting, producing, directing, and cinematography.
  • Experience with VR, gaming, and other new media.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Frequent use of fine‑hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer.
Knowledge, Skills, and Capabilities
  • Knowledge of emerging AI applications in digital cinema workflows, including generative media, visual effects automation, virtual production, and content personalization.
  • Knowledge of current film and television industry trends and standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of producing practices across multiple stages and formats of film and media production, with additional competency in one or more related areas such as screenwriting, directing, cinematography, or editing for film, television, and new media.
  • Knowledge of narrative story structure and its relation to development through distribution.
  • Creating and executing a vision for short‑form and long‑form cinematic projects.
  • Proven ability to supervise film and media productions across a range of budgets, production levels, and formats.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software (e.g., Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling) and production equipment relevant to producing courses.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Strong program coordination skills.
  • Effective verbal and technical written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong presentation and proposal skills.
