Position: Faculty - Assistant Professor - Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC)

Position Overview

The Department of Psychology and Counseling at Utah Valley University invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) for our Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Master’s Program. The role focuses on teaching, research, and service in a vibrant, growth-oriented 60-credit program that leads to licensure eligibility in Utah.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a minimum of two courses from the program’s core curriculum (ACA Ethics, Multicultural Counseling, Group Counseling, Practicum, Internship).
  • Deliver instruction across multiple modalities—face-to-face, hybrid, and online—employing innovative pedagogical strategies.
  • Prepare, teach, and assess graduate-level coursework and supervise practicum and internship students.
  • Conduct scholarly research and disseminate findings through publications and presentations.
  • Mentor students and engage them in research and applied activities.
  • Fulfill service duties (10%): participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and community outreach.
  • Adhere to the program’s time allocation: 80% teaching, 10% research, 10% service.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pedagogy, instructional theory, and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence (student evaluations, syllabi, or other teaching effectiveness documentation).
  • History of research activity and scholarly publications or proposals.
  • Respectful and collaborative engagement with students, colleagues, and staff.
  • Must establish residency in Utah upon hire.
  • Eligible for a CMHC license in Utah or in the process of obtaining one.

Licenses or Certifications

A license as a CMHC in Utah or license-eligible.
