Title I Teaching Assistant – Secondary at Alpine School District
Work ConditionsNon‑contract, no benefits
Hours:
6 per day / 29 per week
Hourly rate: $18.74
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives.
- Administers classroom assignments, tests, homework and make‑up work for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
- Assists students—individually or in small groups—with lesson assignments (e.g., read stories, listen as students read, provide writing assistance, reinforce English lessons, provide spelling practice, facilitate activities, computer learning programs) to practice and reinforce learning concepts and to help students reach academic goals and grade‑level standards.
- Communicates with teachers and/or parents to evaluate progress and implement classroom objectives.
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of an assigned teacher to present and reinforce learning concepts.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and files for safety, documentation, and mandated requirements.
- Monitors individuals and/or groups of students in various settings (classroom, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Reports observations and incidents (accidents, fights, inappropriate behavior, rule violations, safety conditions) to appropriate personnel.
- Supports classroom teachers and other personnel to implement curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Attends meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire and convey information related to job functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Age 16+.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree or 60 quarter/48 semester hours, or passage of the Para Pro Praxis test.
