The School of Education at Utah Valley University invites applications for a full-time, three-semester tenure‑track faculty position in the Graduate Education Department, specializing in School Counseling. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of counselor education principles and practices as well as several years of relevant K‑12 school counseling experience. This individual will primarily teach graduate courses in school counselor education and/or other courses as deemed appropriate, based on their training and experience.
Successful applicants will be expected to obtain International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Certification within one year of hire if they are not already ISTE Certified, as part of our School of Education’s commitment to innovation and excellence in digital teaching and learning. The position will begin on August 1st, 2026.

These degrees help fill the growing demand for educator professionals across the state of Utah.
- Teach a 4‑4 course load consisting primarily of graduate classes within the school counseling program and/or other courses as deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrate flexibility in modalities and schedules that accommodate graduate students’ availability and work commitments.
- Maintain and submit accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow‑up; establish and maintain office hours; perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Remain current in fields of expertise, research, and pedagogy; assist department chair, faculty, and staff in maintaining an effective program, including advisement and recruitment of students, curriculum development, program changes, etc.; serve on committees and attend meetings as assigned; conduct oneself in a professional manner.
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate degree in a field closely related to the field of instruction, or ABD with dissertation defense scheduled – degree must be in hand by position start date.
- At least two years of relevant K‑12 school counseling experience.
- Current School Counseling License.
- At least two years of college/university teaching experience.
- Earned relevant professional license or credentials.
- Evidence of scholarly pursuits and potential.

- Current research, instructional theory, methods, strategies, assessments, technology, innovations and techniques in preservice teacher education, including clinical programming and teacher performance assessment.
- Knowledge of program and curriculum development and evaluation for school counseling.
- Knowledge of and expertise in current trends in school counseling, college and career readiness, and related areas.
- Evidence of substantial experience in the field of school counseling in K‑12 schools and/or a school district environment.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with students and community partners.
- Demonstrate excellence in teamwork by contributing to a high‑performing, collaborative culture across the department, School of Education, and university in support of student and program achievement.
