Summary Description

The Assistant Manager works closely with the Club Manager to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification and tanning certification within required time frames.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a high‑performing team of Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere and ensure staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
  • Assist in staff management and provide backup support to the Club Manager; prepare staff schedules, supervise daily operations, oversee member service quality, and resolve or escalations of employee issues.
  • Perform front‑desk duties including answering phones, checking members in, processing new‑member sign‑ups, taking prospective member tours, and facilitating all member requests and issues.
  • Assist in maintaining facility cleanliness and overall maintenance.
  • Order supplies within the club’s budget.
  • Track weekly, monthly, and annual statistics and reports.
  • Provide backup support for any absent employee.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
  • Experience as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness.
  • Solid supervisory, diplomacy, and listening skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Hard‑working, enthusiastic, and energetic.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/AED and tanning certification as required.
Physical Demands & Working Environment

Work performed in an indoor environment; exposure to noise, dust, mechanical and electrical hazards, and cleaning chemicals. Primary functions include walking and standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, reaching, twisting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements; occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling moderate weight (up to 50 lbs); operating assigned equipment. Must maintain physical ability to administer CPR in the event of a medical emergency.
