SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Manager is responsible to work closely with the Club Manager to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Obtain and maintain CPR/AED Certification and remain physically capable of performing CPR in emergencies.
  • Obtain Tanning Certification within the company-required timeframe.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing a high‑performing staff of Member Service Representatives, Trainers and Custodians.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members and guests, ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
  • Assist with Staff Management: scheduling, supervising, ensuring a superior customer experience, and resolving or escalating employee issues; provide backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
  • Handle front‑desk activities: answer phones politely and help callers, check members into the club, manage new member sign‑ups, conduct prospective member tours, and facilitate all member requests and issues.
  • Assist in overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
  • Assist in ordering supplies within a specific budget based on club requirements.
  • Assist in tracking statistics and reports on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
  • Provide backup support for any absent employee.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
  • Experience working as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness.
  • Solid supervisory, diplomatic and listening skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite).
  • Hard‑working, enthusiastic and energetic.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR/AED Certification and be physically capable of performing CPR in emergencies.
  • Must obtain Tanning Certification within the company‑required timeframe.
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Environment: Work is performed indoors, exposed to noise, dust, mechanical and electrical hazards, and cleaning chemicals.

Physical: Requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and perform repetitive hand movements. Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull moderate weight up to 50 lbs. Operate assigned equipment and vehicles. Must administer CPR in emergencies.

Vision: Normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Normal hearing range with or without correction.
