Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all tax preparation and compliance functions for various entities, including income, sales, excise, property, and pass-through taxes.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of tax filings in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure timely payment and proper accounting for estimate, extension, balance due, and pass-through withholding tax payments.
  • Coordinate preparation and filing functions with public accounting firms, external auditors, tax authorities, and internal teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations and legislation affecting the organization.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules for tax purposes.
  • Oversee the internal preparation and compliance with all sales, excise, personal property, and other pass-through taxes as applicable.
  • Lead tax audit responses and represent the company in discussions with taxing authorities.
  • Serve as primary internal tax subject‑matter expert and advisor to senior leadership.
  • Manage and mentor internal staff and coordinate external resources.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, legal, and operations to align tax strategy with business priorities.
  • Develop and maintain tax policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Research and interpret complex tax laws and regulatory changes; advise leadership on potential impacts.
  • Partner with Finance and FP&A on tax forecasting and cash flow projections.
  • Collaborate closely with Investor Relations and Executive teams on tax‑related matters.
  • Identify and implement process improvements or automation opportunities within the tax function.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree (e.g., MAcc, Master's in Taxation, MBA) desirable.
  • Experience:

    5+ years of progressive tax experience.
  • Certifications:

    CPA and/or EA preferred but not required.
  • Prior public accounting experience required (or a mix of public + industry).
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing, reviewing, and managing complex tax returns.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws, with the ability to interpret evolving regulations.
  • Experience with tax planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
  • Experience handling property and sales tax matters is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tax accounting (ASC 740) and tax provision processes.
  • Strong technical research ability, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals.
  • Leadership capabilities: ability to supervise, mentor, and manage internal teams or external resources.
  • Proficiency in tax software, research tools, and Excel; experience with ERP/accounting systems.
