Base pay range$17.50/hr - $21.00/hr
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting customers, offering assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring satisfaction.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy; review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Perform duties as assigned, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine correctness, and checking for possible interactions.
- Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy on Good Faith Dispensing during prescription dispensing activities.
- Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers in the OTC aisle when possible.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
- Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
- Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples and coordinating clinical services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Assist in building good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers through provider detailing and outreach.
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification/registration.
- Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
