You will provide professional reception support, respond to general questions, and share clear, consistent information about policies and procedures, helping ensure a positive and efficient experience for everyone who connects with the university.

In this position, you will gain valuable experience across a broad range of P&C functions, including employment processes, background checks, federal I-9 compliance, employee benefits, compensation, and employee relations. By reviewing, processing, and routing a wide variety of requests and inquiries, you will play an important role in keeping operations running smoothly while building skills that support long-term growth within a collaborative, student-centered university environment.

  • Responsible for managing incoming calls as well as walk-in traffic from faculty, students, staff and the general public. This includes disseminating information, recording, assisting with general questions, troubleshooting, and routing to the appropriate personnel and/or institutional area.
  • Responsible for processing background checks, and initiating and following through with new hire paperwork and processing.
  • Provide information and assistance to job applicants with respect to the job search and application process; assist applicants with routine questions about job vacancies and application status; refer requests for in-depth job search assistance to talent acquisition team. Follow up with department representatives as necessary to ensure resolution of problems involving incomplete, inaccurate, or non-compliant documentation.
  • Provide general information and assistance for all of human resources and refer complex issues and specific questions to subject matter experts (SME).
  • Maintain and update UVHire, Background Check, and I-9 information in the HRIS system to ensure proper recording, routing, retention, storage and/or disposition of all documents received by the center, in accordance with established policies and procedural guidelines. Assist various HR areas with special projects or events as assigned. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent, plus six months of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of paid office experience related to the summary of duties.

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of human resources processes, procedures, and documentation, as applicable to a public institution.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements for the acquisition and retention of employment and/or contract data and documentation.
  • Knowledge of general office etiquette to maintain a professional environment.
  • Knowledge of computer software applications and data input, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, calendaring and Word.
  • Working knowledge of automated job application systems and procedures.
Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse University community.
