Lighting Lead Tech

About the Role

As a Lead Technician, you will take a leadership role in installing, setting up, and taking down lighting and draping for weddings, corporate events, and holiday and Christmas lighting installations. This position is fast paced, hands on, and requires strong technical skills, reliability, and leadership on site. You will work at venues and properties across Utah, leading crews, problem solving in real time, and ensuring designs are executed accurately and safely.

• Lead and assist with the setup and takedown of event lighting, draping, and Christmas lighting installations
• Oversee crew members on site and provide direction as needed
• Safely climb and work on ladders
• Operate lifts when required
• Load and unload vans and trailers
• Manage cables, power sources, and lighting equipment
• Follow design maps and installation plans accurately
• Communicate directly with team leads, venue contacts, and clients when needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Provide excellent customer service on site
• Troubleshoot issues and adapt to on site challenges

• Reliable transportation
• Availability for weekends, evenings, and early mornings
• Weekend on, weekend off schedule, with some Sundays required
• Ability to lift 40 to 50 pounds comfortably
• Minimum of 1 year of experience using ladders regularly
• Comfortable working at heights
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and ability to follow plans precisely
• Willingness to continue learning lighting equipment and advanced install methods

• Previous experience with event lighting, Christmas lighting, or construction
• Basic tool knowledge
• Lift certification is a bonus, but not required

• Training starts at $15 per hour
• Lead Technician pay range is $25 to $30 per hour, depending on experience
