Position

Responsibilities
  • Participates in staff development opportunities and maintains child welfare certification through ongoing training.
  • Works as a cooperative member of the unit, especially in backing up other team members and assisting on cases.
  • Maintains relationships with supervisory staff, emphasizing proper supervision response and reliance on supervisory guidance during unusual circumstances.
  • Maintains relationships with community resource providers, emphasizing facilitation of the referral process and continuity of care for families on the caseload.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with children and families, focusing on permanency achievement, service satisfaction, and overall safety.
  • Accurately completes case notes on an ongoing basis; enters notes into the required data system per current policy and contractual outcomes.
  • Prepares for and attends all court activities as necessary, including court hearings, testifying on case status and progress toward permanency, interacting with attorneys, and making recommendations to the court.
  • Develops and completes judicial reviews, initial and quarterly assessments, child well–being assessments, medical reviews, reunification packets, termination reports/summaries, and all other required reports on time per policy and contractual outcomes.
  • Attends individual case staffings.
  • Conducts initial and ongoing child safety assessments.
  • Makes referrals for services as needed for all cases.
  • Arranges emergency placement, medical treatment, and other services for children at risk.
  • Conducts diligent searches for parents and family members, thoroughly documenting search efforts.
  • Completes home studies for prospective placements.
  • Plans and facilitates visits between children in care and their family members.
  • Conducts minimum monthly face‑to‑face contacts with children, parents, relatives, and others for the caseload.
  • Reviews and assesses the family’s progress toward achieving case‑plan goals.
  • Supports foster and adoptive families.
  • Negotiates subsidy agreements with adoptive parents when applicable.
  • Completes required adoption paperwork and finalization when assigned.
  • Meets adoption goals when applicable.
Education, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or another related human services field and one year of relevant social services experience working with children and families.

This Position Requires The Following Credentials
  • Child Welfare Certification – required to participate in training and obtain certification upon completion.
  • Current Background Clearance Screening Letter.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability by the agency’s current insurance carrier if using a company automobile.
  • Skills necessary to understand and evaluate risk factors for child abuse and neglect.
  • Thorough computer skills, including all Microsoft Office products.
