Assistant Project Manager

Overview

Assistant Project Manager (APM) reports to the Director of Operations. Indirect reporting includes Project Executive, Senior Project Manager, and Project Manager.

The APM is responsible to assist the project team in the completion of each assigned project within established schedule and budget parameters, and in a manner consistent with customer-focused project delivery standards. The APM must be able to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and develop strong relationships with industry contacts, including customers, the design community, owners representatives, and subcontractors.

• Receive, log, file, and control shop drawings.
• Assist with processing of RFIs.
• Follow up on quantities in place weekly with support of Superintendent.
• Prepare quantity take-offs for field procurement and change orders.
• Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in preparing and updating schedule.
• Assist Project Manager with change order proposals.
• Prepare and distribute meeting minutes.
• Assist Superintendent in the development of initial punch lists.
• Manage closeout and procure all closeout materials as the project progresses.
• Assist with Subcontractor solicitation and procurement.
• Assist with estimating and with submittal and shop drawing review and processing.
• Assist with and attend PSR meetings.
• Closeouts; ensure timely, complete, and accurate information.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent, plus experience/knowledge of construction.
• 1-3 years of experience in related construction fields.
• Thorough knowledge of Safety Program.
• Basic scheduling understanding.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Extremely detail-oriented.
• Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
• Understanding of quality building practices.
• Ability to quickly identify problems.
• Computer experience:
  Procore, Blu Beam, Excel and Word preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or related field required.
• FLSA:
  Exempt.

Physical Requirements:

Workers must be able to see well (with or without correction); coordinate eye–hand and finger movements; use hands, arms and fingers fully; climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required; and list and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more. Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
