Craft: Asphalt Milling Laborer
Reports To: Milling Foreman
Status: Non-Exempt

The Milling Ground Hand supports the milling crew by performing ground-level tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate milling operations. This role works closely with the Milling Foreman and Operators to maintain workflow, prepare the jobsite, and ensure proper cleanup and traffic control.

• The Milling Ground Hand assists with daily milling operations by supporting equipment operators and the crew.
• The Milling Ground Hand removes raised pavement markers and prepares roadway prior to milling.
• The Milling Ground Hand uses shovels, brooms, blowers, and other hand tools to clean and maintain work areas.
• The Milling Ground Hand sets up traffic control devices, signage, cones, and safe work zones.
• The Milling Ground Hand marks milling limits and depths using paint, tape, or flags as instructed.
• The Milling Ground Hand communicates with operators to guide trucks, maintain safe distances, and coordinate movements.
• The Milling Ground Hand assists with loading and unloading equipment and securing materials.
• The Milling Ground Hand maintains a clean and safe work environment around milling machines and trucks.

Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.

• Basic understanding of milling or road construction preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Awareness of work zone safety and traffic control.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and exposure to loud environments.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labor for extended periods.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous road construction or labor experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
