CEI Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector

Job Overview

CDM Smith’s Construction Engineering and Inspection team seeks a CEI Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector 3 to inspect and monitor construction activities at field site locations in Maitland, FL. The role is part of the TSU Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group.

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Determine acceptability of daily contractor work and review daily reports, contractor quality control procedures, and material testing results for conformance to the approved Quality Control Plan.
• Review and measure quantities of materials placed, sampling and in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete and asphalt concrete pavement as required.

High School diploma or equivalent. Two years of related experience in highway construction inspection is required. Valid driver’s license is mandatory. A state or national certification such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, or concrete is preferred but not required. Domestic and international travel may be required.

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic knowledge of arithmetic, geometry and basic mathematics.
• Knowledge of construction plans, drawings, contract provisions and specifications.
• Basic knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in highway construction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Work Location:

Florida – Maitland, FL (field locations). 20% travel required. The position is full‑time, regular employment. This is an evergreen candidate pool and is not a role that is open at this time.
