Position Summary:
The Desk Operations Tech participates in daily operations of managing the surgery schedule, communicating all problems associated with the schedule or control desk to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

- Performs one or more clerical/secretarial tasks for one or more persons on the unit. Answers phone calls, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
- Demonstrates telephone etiquette, communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize appropriately.
- Works in collaboration with the Perioperative Control Desk Liaison to coordinate the surgery case flow activities of the control desk.
- Communicates pertinent information to multi‑disciplinary departments regarding patient care issues and changes or requests for changes to the daily schedule.
- Responsible for maintaining and accurately documenting blood products in the Blood Bank Log book.
- Able to function independently through self‑direction and personal accountability for work practices and responsiveness to patient, surgeon, staff and department/facility needs.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and assists with special projects and performs other duties as directed.
Education/Training:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification:
None.
Experience:
Six (6) months (180 days) of previous clinical experience.
