The Senior Architectural Design Manager is an in-office role and is accountable to the Creative Director for project performance and team communications. The Senior Architectural Design Manager is responsible for project deliverables, the technical content of documents, the implementation of comments, QA reviews, and the coordination of disciplines, including consultants. The Senior Architectural Design Manager directs the work assignments of a diverse project team as well as coordinates with clients, consultants, and contractors.
The Senior Architectural Design Manager reports to the Director of Architecture.
- Ensures the overall design intent of the project established by the Concept Architect / Creative Director is incorporated into the detailed project documentation
- Monitors the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, and validates that the design idea is consistent and properly executed
- Responsible for the technical resolution and coordination of a defined portion of a project or projects, including the coordination of drawings and specifications
- Checks completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy
- Coordinates use and tracks shared electronic documentation and files with the project team, clients, and consultants
- Writes reports and documentation to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions
- Prepares meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings
- Manages project documents and identifies the sheets planned for each stage of the work, including defining how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM)
- Manages standards
- Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
- Coordinates communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements, providing support when necessary
- Manages construction detail documentation so that it conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards
- Supervises the preparation of technical drawings by other less senior-level architects or team members
- Mentors and directs the work of team members, reviews their work, to achieve project goals
- Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
- Fosters a green workplace through sustainable work practices
- Conduct regular design reviews to ensure the highest level of quality and alignment with project goals.
- Address and resolve design-related issues that may arise during the development process.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of design milestones.
- Must have or be able to quickly acquire knowledge of company structure (mission, goals, and objectives), and policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Professional license preferred, not required
- 10+ years of proven experience in a Senior Architectural/Design management role within the Themed entertainment industry.
- Proficiency in technical skills, including AutoCAD, Revit
- Sketching skills preferred
