Registered Architect VI - Public Works
Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Florida Registered Architect at our Orlando office. This is an excellent opportunity for professional growth and career advancement. The successful candidate will collaborate with a knowledgeable team of architects, be a licensed architect in the State of Florida or close to being registered. HZ is an award winning Architectural and Engineering firm providing innovative planning, architecture, engineering, and interior design solutions across the United States.

Education: Bachelor's in Architecture required
Duties- Provide input on and execute the strategic vision for the practice area's local market.
- Develop and maintain client relationships.
- Actively pursue new business opportunities by using their network.
- Act as primary contact for the client and is responsible for overall project management.
- Assist market sector teams in preparing proposals, calling on new and prospective clients, and participating in new project presentations.
- Negotiate contracts.
- Act as primary contact for the client and oversee project teams, providing oversight to project managers, project architects and project designers.
- Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of projects with a high degree of technical complexity.
- Ensure project development, documentation and its completion meets schedule and budget.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Reviews work and propose changes to design, and to comply with building codes and budget.
- Prepares plan of action to resolve project issues.
- Maintain project budgets and schedules while meeting client needs, business objectives and design guidelines.
- Mentor project team and foster positive team spirit that supports everyone's efforts to succeed.
- Ensure staff adheres to HZ's policies, practices and procedures.
- Monitor internal staffing needs and coordinate client staff and their internal customers, architects, engineers, contractors and vendors.
- Coordinate workload within project teams and work with other project directors to manage workload across multiple offices.
- Write proposals, recommend appropriate fees, and participate in contract negotiations with clients and consultants.
- Manage bid or contractor selection process.
- Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
- Successfully and consistently functions as Lead Principal-in-Charge for their designated Practice Area in geographic market.
- Competent, knowledgeable, service leader in the market(s) they service.
- Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
- Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
- Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client). Verifies client satisfaction routinely and shares feedback with team.
- Proactively works with PM to strategize resolving issues that impact project performance. Reviews progress with PM at least monthly (including & completes vs. % spent) and that PM is adhering to weekly rhythm.
- Successfully contributes to the overall profitability and financial performance on projects.
- Oversees staff deliverables and production assigned to their projects to ensure client, legal, and company requirements are met.
- Sharing Information: Conveying up-to date information in the most efficient and useful manner to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Critical Thinking: Analyzing problems and solutions by evaluating the quality of the information available from different sources and avoiding decision-making bias.
- Executes Strategy: Ensuring that people remain focused on accomplishing strategic goals by thoughtfully planning tasks and overcoming obstacles.
- Fosters a Learning Culture: Creating an inspiring and engaging atmosphere where people feel motivated to grow, experiment, and learn new skills.
- Identifies Talent: Actively maintaining awareness of internal and external talent, current abilities, and hiring needs.
- Bachelor of Architecture required.
- Registered Licensed Architect in Florida required.
- Minimum 15 years in the profession as an Architect.
- Proven business development experience.
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to grow and lead teams.
- Good verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects with varying deadlines.
