The Opportunity
With the rapid successful growth of the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) Department of Medicine, Dermatology will now become its own Division to further our academic missions of education, research and high quality state-of-the-art clinical care. We seek an accomplished dermatologist with a strong vision for dermatology excellence to serve as the founding Division Chief with major leadership roles in the College of Medicine (COM) and the UCF Faculty Practice.

The goal is to collaborate with faculty in other COM specialties to establish clinical programs of excellence that have impact for, and well-beyond, our local communities. The Chief will also work with clinic leadership to optimize the day-to-day operational performance of the Division’s faculty in delivering superior medical care with the highest quality, safety, ethical standards and financial practices.

Another aim is collaborative research and technology development with our faculty colleagues in the College of Optics and Photonics (e.g., for high-resolution imaging, laser therapeutics) and the College of Engineering and Computer Science.Start a Dermatology Residency Program, which will be facilitated by planning that has already been underway including multiple training sites (e.g., the local VA Medical Center, private practitioners), dermatopathology and pediatrics.
Enrich our current medical school dermatology curriculum with new faculty for didactics and clinical rotations. The successful candidate will also arrange for the Division to participate in the current advising program for students seeking dermatology residencies.
Work with the Internal Medicine Residency and Fellowship Program Directors to incorporate dermatology rotations into the clinic schedule.
Establish co-specialty clinics such as dermatology-rheumatology for the purposes of patient care, learner education, and clinical or translational research.
Provide mentorship and other career guidance for COM’s trainees and faculty.
Provide leadership, personal and Divisional service to the Department, College and University by such activities as committee participation and a commitment to supporting our community.
All candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited university and be board certified in dermatology.
