Market Clinical Director

The Market Clinical Director will directly supervise, performance‑manage and train Clinical Directors within their assigned market. The incumbent is accountable for center performance objectives, P&L, growth, and culture, while dedicating a portion of time to direct patient care as a PCP and/or other clinical duties. Leadership responsibilities include guiding Clinical Director performance, engagement, building a strong clinical‑operations synergy, and fostering a positive culture.

Responsibilities
  • Directly accountable for clinical outcomes and day‑to‑day management of Medical Directors across multiple centers, with regular presence in centers and supervision by the Regional President.
  • Ensure successful clinical operations and meet/exceed plan market earnings.
  • Manage, mentor and coach Medical Directors to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes.
  • Oversee talent development of PCPs, NPs, and Medical Directors, including practice shadowing, 1:1 coaching, leadership development plans, and performance management.
  • Cultivate a center‑level physician culture aligned with Chen Med’s core model, values, behaviors, and service standards.
  • Assist the Clinical COE in training new practitioners and in recruiting and interviewing PCP and specialist candidates.
  • Partner with Clinical COE and Talent Acquisition to accelerate Clinical talent growth, hiring, mentoring, and role‑model exemplary clinical leadership.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with payers, specialists, community, hospitals, and engage in local social media presence.
  • Monitor and support overall market culture, addressing workplace concerns promptly.
  • Review and approve center‑level referrals and provide backup for market referral and delegated utilization authorizations.
  • Assist Regional President with market quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee monthly scorecard reviews and collaborate with Clinical Leadership on quarterly clinical metric analysis.
  • Provide training to other Chen Med entities as needed.
  • Develop deep relationships with providers and key stakeholders in the market.
  • Use local market dynamics to drive clinical initiatives and cost‑reduction strategies.
  • Deliver clinical outcomes and service to patient panel as a PCP (20 %).
  • Perform other duties as assigned and modified at Manager’s discretion.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Consistently demonstrates behavioral competencies:
    Customer focus, self‑awareness, accountability, results orientation, talent development, engagement, and interpersonal savvy.
  • Technical knowledge: excellent clinical skills; experience in managed care delivery; clinical outcomes and quality improvement processes; population risk management or chronic disease care management; history of teaching fellow physicians.
  • Other abilities: analytical skills; relationship building with external organizations; conflict management; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; comfort with EMR; keyboarding; travel up to 30 % locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Independently exercises judgment.
Education and Experience Criteria
  • MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialty required.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Preferably 2 years as Medical Director or equivalent with a Medicare or Medicaid patient population.
  • Board eligibility required;
    Board Certified preferred.
  • Current, active license to practice medicine in the state of employment.
  • High‑performing physician with proven clinical leadership experience.
  • Completed internal physician training and attained partnership.
  • Experience with population risk management or complex chronic disease care management.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teams in quality improvement or healthcare leadership preferred.
  • Preferred to be an existing high‑performing PCP partner or Medical Director within the Chen Med core model, managing >400 patients with outstanding clinical, customer service, and cost outcomes.
  • Specialty leaders demonstrating superior outcomes and primary care delivery in the Chen Med model are also preferred.
Pay Range

$257,939 - $368,485 Salary
