Position Overview
Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children seeks a dedicated full-time (1.0 FTE) Palliative Care Physician to join our well-established, interdisciplinary palliative care team. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a robust program that serves as a consultative service for maternal-fetal medicine patients, neonates, pediatrics, and young adults with complex palliative care needs.
About Our ProgramOur palliative care team is recognized as one of the more comprehensive programs among children s hospitals, offering unique services including:
- An interdisciplinary care model with a dedicated nurse, chaplain, counselors, and child life specialist to enhance the quality of life of the patients served.
- Extensive perinatal palliative care with close maternal-fetal medicine partnerships in the Fetal Care Clinic at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies
- Pediatric hospice management for patients who have a hospice plan of care
- Comprehensive bereavement support in the form of complimentary grief counseling, providing grief resources, and hosting multiple remembrance events throughout the year
- Automatic consultation for various NICU diagnoses (Periviable, CDH, Renal Replacement, ECMO, Complex Care, etc.)
- Outpatient services, including home visits for patients with a hospice plan of care
- Providing patient palliative care services across all pediatric populations from neonates to young adults
- Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine teams to provide excellent perinatal palliative care
- Provide expert pain and symptom management
- Facilitate goals of care and advanced care planning discussions with patients and families
- Provide outpatient palliative care services and collaborate with other pediatric subspecialists for children with medical complexities Participate in direct management of pediatric hospice services
- Maintain professional consultation relationships across all hospital departments at both Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies
- Education:
M.D., D.O. - Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency
- Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics
- Board Certified or Board Eligible for Hospice and Palliative Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Unrestricted FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and DEA
