Primary Care Physician – Women’s Health (Orlando VA Healthcare System)
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs – Base pay range: $/yr – $/yr. May include a recruitment/relocation incentive and an Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) award.
SummaryThe incumbent will serve as a Primary Care Physician–Women’s Health located within the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) assigned to the Ambulatory Care Service. Assignments to other facilities within OVAHCS and travel to the site may be required to meet the needs of the service.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive medical care to an assigned panel of patients.
- Manage chronic conditions and evaluate and treat inter-current medical conditions.
- Determine medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols.
- Collaborate with a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous care.
- Provide specific women’s health care, including age‑appropriate cervical and breast cancer screening, menopause and contraceptive management, and evaluation of basic gynecological concerns.
- Perform disease prevention activities such as sex- and age-specific screenings, mental health screenings, and health promotion activities.
- Screen for, evaluate, and treat uncomplicated common mental health disorders, including depression and common addictions, with referrals to mental health providers as indicated.
- Provide buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder per DEA guidance.
- Provide clinical oversight and participate in peer review of other primary care providers through periodic chart reviews.
- Act as surrogate for absent primary care providers when needed, including review of CPRS view alerts.
- Attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings.
- Complete timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) and all administrative work in accordance with facility policy.
- Address clinical reminders as medically appropriate.
- Maintain quality of care that meets professional standards.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; other shifts may be required. Travel to other facilities within OVAHCS and possibly outside the site may be required.
