Scholarship, professional service, and participation on various committees related to digital collection and institutional repository management are expected.

The Digital Initiatives Librarian will collaborate with library and campus stakeholders to develop and sustain digital projects, with a particular focus on expanding STARS services. The ideal candidate will bring experience in digital preservation and digitization, along with knowledge of emerging trends and digital scholarship methodologies. This role oversees STARS-related services that support the research and publishing needs of the UCF community.

  • Digital Accessibility:
Research, recommend, and implement accessibility standards for digital collections and repository content by developing policies, advocating for accessible systems, and guiding content remediation and creation.
  • Digital Preservation:
Spearhead digital preservation efforts by overseeing program development, implementation, and best practices to ensure long-term access to digital assets.
  • Digitization Efforts:
Develop, cultivate, and manage digital initiatives through cross-departmental collaboration and stakeholder engagement, securing funding to support retrospective scanning, born-digital materials, and digital research projects and coordinating with vendors on outsourced digitization projects.
  • Open Access and Scholarly Publishing:
Advise on open access, rights management, and data management while partnering with librarians to raise awareness of scholarly publishing issues and foster institutional change through education and advocacy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an accredited institution; or doctorate combined with academic library experience.
  • Experience working with an institutional repository platform, such as Bepress’ Digital Commons.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience or experience managing a team.
  • Experience with project management and/or leading digital projects.
  • Experience with developing and documenting digitization policies, digital preservation strategies, and scanning practices.
  • Experience consulting with teaching faculty, administrators, and/or students to recruit content for digital projects.
