Position Overview
We are seeking passionate and motivated veterinary students to serve as Student Representative. In this role, you will represent Veterinarian Partners on your campus, promote knowledge and excitement about our externship and career opportunities, and foster meaningful relationships within the veterinary student community.
Key Responsibilities- Campus Engagement:
Promote VP opportunities and values among veterinary students, faculty, and relevant organizations. - Event Support:
Assist in planning, promoting, and executing campus activities, virtual events, and information sessions. - Total of 2-3 even per academic year expected
- Outreach &
Education:
Organize and host sessions on career development, externships, and the veterinary job market. - Guidance & Referrals:
Provide classmates with information on VP externships, career pathways, and professional development resources. - Feedback Loop:
Act as a bridge between your peers and VP recruiters, sharing student insights to improve programs and initiatives. Pass along information about career fairs and general relevant information. - Network Familiarity:
Gain knowledge of VP’s hospitals, regions, and available opportunities.
- Flexible schedule: 1–2 hours per week max
- Compensation:
All Expense Paid Trip to a Major conference (VMX, AAHA, WVC, AVMA, etc) --or-- $1000/semester stipend - Special leadership and professional development opportunities.
- Enrolled in VP Mentorship Program to see how new graduate are learning the “trenches” and allow you to connect your didactic lectures to the real world.
- Resume review, interview coaching, and mentorship from Practice Medical Directors and senior Veterinarians.
- Preferred access to externships and summer opportunities across VP’s hospital network.
- Exclusive VP swag and recognition as a campus leader.
- Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program.
- Second & Third year students preferred, though all years will be considered.
- Passion for veterinary medicine and a genuine interest in helping peers succeed.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse audience.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency with digital tools and social media.
- Previous student leadership, event planning, or campus involvement is a plus.
