R0007469# Summary This position is responsible for teaching study and learning skills to other alumni and devising and modeling study strategies to enable alumni to master the subject matter of their courses. Acts as mentor and role model to new alumni to ease the transition into bar preparation. This position may also be responsible for grading essays assigned throughout bar preparation and Bar Essay Writing Course and giving feedback that is consistent with the CLASP office.
This is a part-time, temporary position working up to 15 hours per week.
** This is a hybrid position, consisting or both remote and in-person work.**# Essential Functions
* Plan, prepare, and conduct weekly workshops and/or office hours to teach advanced study skills. Conduct individual meetings with alumni to counsel them on improving or enhancing their study skills and offer remedial assistance.
* Provide individualized feedback to alumni (including essay and MCQ review), and utilize roadmaps/approaches on how best to approach a particular topic or call of question.
* Report to CLASP any areas of concern or progress noticeable in alumni performance. Formulate and implement a plan of action relating to areas of concern.
* Record weekly billable hours worksheet describing work and time spent performing duties for future program planning; complete lesson plans and submit all materials by applicable deadlines.
* Provide support to alumni as they prepare for the FL or UBE Bar Exams, including analytical feedback on performance and growth.
* Be up to date on exam trends as reported by the FL Bar, NCBE and other UBE Jurisdictions. Including any changes in black letter law that might affect performance on exams. Keep CLASP and alumni informed of said changes.# Qualifications/Requirements
* Juris Doctorate obtained from Barry University School of Law required.
* Admission to a state bar and strong academic records required; FL bar admission preferred.
* Experience in teaching or mentoring students.
* Commitment to the mission of the Law School and its curricular and instructional methods and goals.
* Position requires highest level of professionalism, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
