Teacher - English

Must have Florida Teaching Certification for English 6-12. The English Teacher role involves coaching, motivating, and instructing high school students within Second Mile Education’s mastery‑based model.

• Provide a learning environment of high student accountability that is student‑centered and aligned with the school’s academic goals and specified objectives.
• Lead and collaborate with peers to develop, plan, and implement best educational practices based on individual student needs and company goals.
• Maintain, disaggregate, and provide progress‑monitoring reports, reading records, benchmark data, and other student records as required by district or state regulatory guidelines and company policy.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of the reading process, and best practices in teaching, intervention, and instructional techniques in content area text.
• Participate in professional development courses or activities to maintain appropriate certification or credentials.
• Assist in initiatives to ensure the school meets defined FTE enrollment and attendance goals.
• Perform all other duties as assigned, aligned with company policy and procedures to achieve educational goals.

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related subject from an accredited college or university, or a valid teaching certificate.
• Previous high school teaching experience and/or the ability to work with overage and at‑risk youth is preferred.
• Knowledge of the principles of secondary education, curriculum, and instructional theory.
• Ability to analyze and use data to drive program improvement.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
