Job Title: Senior Manager of Flight Operations Training Standards

Location: Orlando, FL

Department: Flight Operations Training

Reports To: Director of Flight Training and Standards

Summary: The Flight Operations Training Standards Manager is responsible for overseeing, developing, and standardizing training programs under 14 CFR Part 121 for pilots, with additional involvement in training for Dispatchers, Flight Attendants, and Loadmasters. This role emphasizes curriculum development, continuous improvement, and a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and FAA guidance to ensure high-quality, compliant, and effective training programs that enhance operational safety and efficiency.

The position requires strong leadership, deep aviation expertise, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in training.

Essential Functions:

  • Curriculum Development: Design, develop, and update standardized training curricula in to include industry best practices, company objectives, and leverage innovative training methodologies and technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead ongoing evaluation and enhancement of training programs by analyzing trainee performance data, instructor feedback, and operational metrics. Implement improvements to curricula, delivery methods, and assessment tools to optimize training effectiveness and safety outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all training programs and curricula meet FAA regulatory requirements and guidance, including 14 CFR Part 121, Advisory Circulars, and other relevant standards. Maintain comprehensive documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Instructor Standardization: Train, evaluate, and standardize instructors to ensure consistent delivery of training across all programs, with a primary focus on pilot training and secondary support for Dispatchers, Flight Attendants, and Loadmasters.
  • Instructor Engagement and Observation: Regularly meet with instructors to provide guidance, feedback, and support, and actively observe training sessions to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to standardized procedures across all programs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Flight Training and Standards to align training initiatives with organizational goals. Coordinate with other departments, including Dispatch, In-Flight, and Loadmaster teams, to support cross-functional training needs.
  • Simulator and Check Airman Duties: Leverage simulator instructor experience to oversee simulator-based training, conduct evaluations, and ensure proficiency checks meet regulatory and company standards.
  • Training Metrics and Reporting:
    Monitor and report on training program performance, including curriculum effectiveness, completion rates, trainee performance, and instructor effectiveness, to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance to instructors and training staff, fostering a professional environment that promotes safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives that adhere to Flight Operations organizational objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of training department initiatives.

Skills, Licenses &

Certifications:

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • Understand applicable Federal Aviation Regulations



Required Qualifications &

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a 14 CFR Part 121 training department
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and continuous improvement of training programs
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulatory requirements and guidance, including 14 CFR Part 121, Advisory Circulars, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple training programs
