Responsible educational and administrative support to create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children aged three to five. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities, assessing individual learning needs, setting developmental goals, and preparing lesson plans tailored to early childhood education standards. Work is performed with considerable independence and of independent judgment under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor.
Responsibilities- Provides reports on learning outcomes, participation metrics, and program impact.
- Recommends and implements programs that include developmentally appropriate or youth development practices aligned with current research and standards of care.
- Maintains effective communication systems with parents, school personnel, and site coordinators.
- Assesses educational needs of children or youth participants to establish learning goals or tailor lesson content and engagement strategies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Adheres to Head Start performance standards to ensure a high-quality classroom environment.
- Establishes learning goals and prepares weekly lesson plans with assistance of Assistant/Aide.
- Makes referrals for assistance with special needs children.
- Makes home visits to each family during school year and provides written progress reports to parents.
- Evaluates performance of Teacher Aide or Teacher Assistant.
- Performs Kitchen and Bus Duty.
- Enters accurate child data into the program’s database (Galileo).
Education levels may include Associates, Bachelor's, or Master's Degrees depending on coursework, credits, field of study and experience. Relevant credentials may include Child Development Associate (CDA) and completion of Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework (typically 6 or 18 credits).
