Position: Wind Technician (Traveling)- Onshore

A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role you’ll be responsible for the construction, commissioning, and maintenance of Siemens Gamesa and / or Senvion wind turbines at one of our potential Wind Turbine sites in the US. Although this position will have a home wind farm site, it will also be part of a mobile team that supports three other sites as needed. Provide excellent service to our customers, analyze and react to people in stressful hazardous situations.

You’ll Make an Impact
  • Contribute to the improvement of new and updated field procedures and standard methodologies.
  • Ability to work inside the wind turbine enclosure at an elevated height of 300 feet.
  • Ability to think clearly and maintain composure during stressful and or hazardous situations is a critical to success in the position.
  • Physical requirements of the job include but not limited to:
    Ladder climbing minimum 267 steps, up stair climbing, standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, work above shoulders, pushing,pulling, exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces and extreme weather conditions.
  • Capable of efficiently taking on additional roles and responsibilities at an operating wind farm.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required along with 2+ years’ experience. A College degree or equivalent competency in a field related to the work of a wind farm technician ie: electrical / mechanical systems is preferred. Various combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment. Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by the safety regulations. Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation, ability to analyze and resolve problems independently.
  • Hands experience working with electrical systems including PLC programming and converters.
  • Experience interacting with customers at various levels of responsibility within their respective organizations.
  • Traveling (up to 95%) to customer sites within and outside the US is a requirement of the job. Must be eligible to hold a valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
