Position Summary
TSG’s client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead their Machining Engineering team. This leadership role will be responsible for driving technical excellence, setting process standards, developing team capabilities, and overseeing continuous improvement across machining operations. The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision, deep technical expertise in machining technologies, and a passion for coaching and developing engineering talent.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and direction to the Manufacturing Engineering – Machining team
- Collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager to align project timelines, resource planning, and strategic goals
- Oversee progress against engineering objectives and communicate regular updates to leadership
- Serve as a subject matter expert in machining operations, including tool design, milling, and EDM (wire, sinker, hole-drill) technologies
- Standardize and implement core machining processes including:
- CAM software and macro programming
- Tooling standards and process variable control strategies
- Develop and lead technical training and cross-training programs to promote team flexibility and growth
- Design and manage a certification framework for machining proficiencies, CAM software, machine coding, and test-machine evaluations
- Manage process change control including program edits, approvals, documentation, and validation procedures
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making, new technologies, and process optimization
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment, reporting any unsafe conditions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to company-wide initiatives
- Uphold confidentiality and professional integrity at all times
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering with demonstrated leadership
- Proven success in component/process development and cross-functional engineering initiatives
- Strong understanding of machining processes and manufacturing standards
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and technical documentation tools
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents, drawings, and reports
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident presenting to internal teams and clients
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities based on technical data
