Job Summary

The Chief Estimator’s role is estimating and quoting Development and Build to Print type projects in accordance with the scope of work and/or specified requirements etc.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures that Bid and Proposal process is utilized throughout the process.
  • Can demonstrate a good understanding of Project requirements.
  • Works with Project Manager and estimating team to perform risk assessments throughout the process.
  • Contingency line items to be based on risk associated with each phase.
  • Coordinates with various disciplines (to include Project Management, Design and Engineering, Production, Assembly, and Installation) within the organization to collect labor estimates with a good understanding of make/buy decisions.
    • Prepare subcontractor bid forms and subcontractor bid recording sheets for assigned trades, evaluate subcontractor bids for scope inclusion, and identification of scope gaps and overlaps, coordinate with other estimator’s trades.
    • Perform bid comparison analysis looking for anomalies and discrepancies between bidders.
    • Works closely with Supply Chain to obtain quotes from third party sources.
    • Obtains multiple quotes from key vendors quoting high dollar/risk items.
    • Assist in developing plans to improve Estimating templates, tools, workflows, and standards.
    • Ensures that blended rates for each discipline (to include contingent rates) are kept up to date in the estimating template.
    • Estimate forecast costs to broken out by internal resources, external resources, and materials.
    • Works closely with Master Scheduler to ensure Project Schedule and Project Estimate are in alignment with the work breakdown structure and forecasted labor and non‑labor.
  • Exceptions, Assumptions, Deviations and Clarifications to Project Requirements should be included with estimate.
  • Works with Project Manager and Subject Matter Experts to Negotiate the best deal for cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Provides alternates where/when appropriate for bids.
  • Conduct estimates reviews as appropriate throughout the process.
  • Develop estimates for Change Orders throughout active projects.
  • Supports the In‑Service (Spares) group with quoting sales orders.
  • Ensures that Estimating process is updated as appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position will be responsible for the oversight and training of project estimators.
Reporting Relationship
  • This position reports to the Director of Project Management.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
  • Five or more years of relevant theme park industry experience with progressively greater responsibility.
  • Good understanding of drawings and blueprints.
  • Successfully led and managed complex bids.
  • Background in math, accounting, estimating and equations.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
