Senior Substation Engineer

Overview

Senior Physical Electrical Substation Engineer at Commonwealth Associates, Inc. This role is hybrid or remote. Relocation to Jackson, MI, Orlando, FL, and Columbus, OH offices may be offered.

The Senior Physical Substation Electrical Engineer will be a team lead and be responsible for managing a team of engineers and client(s).

• Lead and manage a team of engineers and work with clients to deliver electrical substation design projects.
• Coordinate with clients and internal project management teams.
• Develop physical electrical design submittals, and prepare equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and procurement recommendations.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards and align with project budgets and schedules.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 5-10 years of physical electrical design experience in substations.
• 2+ years leading clients and other engineers.
• Proficiency in substation layout and electrical design for a range of voltages (LV to EHV transmission level voltages).
• Knowledge of major substation equipment, its functions, and the ability to select and specify substation equipment.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards.
• Experience in design for substation physical electrical projects and engineering cost estimating for proposals.
