Principal Process Mechanical / Wastewater Engineer

Arcadis is looking for a Principal Process Mechanical / Wastewater Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our Resilience Water Team in Tampa, Florida. This role offers a flexible hybrid work culture, opportunities to lead design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and grow the water practice in the region.

• Provide leadership and technical expertise to advance design team capabilities.
• Serve as design manager and lead project tasks in planning, design, permitting, and construction of wastewater and reclaimed water facilities.
• Develop detailed engineering calculations and analysis, using appropriate design software.
• Manage condition assessment evaluations for wastewater system assets, including treatment facilities, pipelines, and pump/lift stations.
• Ensure project scope, schedule, and budget are met for each assignment.
• Collaborate with project managers and area managers for need assessment, proposal development, and client presentations.
• Strengthen client relationships through professionalism and technical expertise in all client meetings.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers, design/drafting staff.
• Guarantee compliance with Arcadis practices, quality, and safety standards.
• Travel up to 20% as required for project meetings, site visits, and construction oversight.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in wastewater treatment and design, leading projects and multidisciplinary teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.

Key Skills/Attributes

• Clear written and oral communication, excellent technical writing.

• Experience managing drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, permit applications, RFIs, and as-built documents.

• Strong client relationship skills and a proven track record of delivering projects that meet client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 15 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily in the wastewater municipal market.

• Design, permitting, and construction experience with water and wastewater treatment systems, distribution, conveyance, pumping, and storage facilities in Florida.

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering preferred.

• Active participation in regional or national professional associations desirable.
