Commercial Strategy Engineer – Aftermarket Parts Pricing
Alphanumeric Systems is hiring a Commercial Strategy Engineer – Aftermarket Parts Pricing to support our client’s growing Power Parts business. This role is perfect for candidates with experience in parts pricing, cost estimation, manufacturing processes, or technical drawing interpretation, and who want to develop into a future pricing leader.
While the title includes “Engineer,” this is not a design engineering role
. It is a pricing analyst role with strong technical influence
, responsible for defining competitive and profitable pricing across a wide range of turbine‑related parts—from nuts, bolts, washers, and seals to highly engineered components.
You will partner directly with Product Line leaders and Commercial, Sales, and Service teams to build pricing structures, estimate part costs, evaluate market competitiveness, and contribute meaningfully to the company’s commercial growth.
Base pay range$110,000 – $140,000 per year
What You’ll Do- Serve as a central point for all aftermarket parts pricing activities across the Power Parts business.
- Develop, maintain, and refine pricing strategies for both standard commodity parts and highly engineered turbine components.
- Support pricing decisions for individual customer programs, parts kits, and competitive aftermarket offerings (e.g., Westinghouse 501 kits vs. Siemens equivalents).
- Analyze market trends, historical pricing data, competitor positioning, win/loss insights, and customer segmentation to guide pricing decisions.
- Collaborate across Sales, Commercial Operations, Product Line, Service, and Execution teams to ensure pricing consistency and profitability.
- Estimate cost and price for parts using technical drawings, manufacturing process understanding, required machining hours, and materials.
- Review part complexity, material types, and manufacturing methods to ensure pricing accuracy.
- Track accuracy of initial cost estimates vs. actuals and adjust pricing methodologies accordingly.
- Create, update, and manage standard pricing and customer‑specific pricing within ERP systems.
- Ensure accurate material pricing across commodity groups—fasteners, bushings, gaskets, valve stems, washers, solvents, cleaners, and more.
- Partner with IT and Commercial Operations to maintain pricing infrastructure within ERP/CRM platforms.
- Analyze margin performance, part profitability, cost variances, and pricing effectiveness across the product portfolio.
- Generate pricing reports, dashboards, and regular updates for leadership.
- Communicate pricing strategies, rationale, and outcomes across multiple business units.
- Provide training and guidance on pricing tools, methodologies, and processes as the team grows.
- Recommend pricing process improvements related to accuracy, automation, competitiveness, and cycle time.
- Contribute to the development of scalable pricing governance—annual reviews, escalation rules, retention strategies, etc.
- Help build the foundation for what may become a multi‑person pricing team.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or related field, or relevant hands‑on parts pricing/manufacturing experience.
- 3–7 years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Parts pricing (aftermarket or OEM)
- Commodity pricing
- ERP‑based pricing management
- Technical drawing interpretation
- Understanding manufacturing processes (machining, materials, complexity) and applying that knowledge to cost and price estimation.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills (ratios, percentages, cost/margin modeling).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and mechanical details.
Preferred
- Experience with power generation equipment (gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG components).
- Prior experience pricing commodity parts (fasteners, seals, bushings, washers, gaskets, etc.).
- Experience developing or maintaining standard pricing lists, SRP, or price books.
- ERP pricing configuration experience (any major ERP).
- Demonstrated ability to influence commercial decisions.
