Position: Manufacturing Engineer (First Shift)

Overview

Manufacturing Engineer (First Shift) – Full time – Orlando, FL. This role is part of the Optical and Photonics Systems Division, which specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art communications systems for military, space, and commercial applications.

First shift position:
Monday through Friday. Second shift: 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, with eventual move to four ten-hour days (3:30 pm to 2:00 am, Monday through Thursday). Third shift: three twelve-hour days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

Travel:
Up to 10% in the Continental US. Minimum clearance:

Opportunity to contribute to fabrication process development, cost reduction, and production quality in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead fabrication process development, documentation, ECOs, and process training; maintain production yield, quality, and cleanliness.
  • Interface with design engineers to ensure hardware producibility and develop build strategies.
  • Drive cost reduction and implement best process controls to produce high-quality products for customers.
  • Direct support personnel in the day-to-day execution of manufacturing tasks.
  • Proactively translate ideas and new concepts into tangible process improvements.
  • Plan and support the build and modification of electronics systems, including procurement support, generation of assembly methods/work instructions, tooling design support, material/process development, facilities/equipment planning, and resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Optical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Optics Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar field.
  • Knowledge of process control, cleanroom operation protocol, and process control for complex opto-mechanical and electro-optical assembly.
  • Proven technical acumen in the manufacture, test, and integration of complex product technologies and systems (DoD or Space).
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work well in a team environment with people at all levels.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of MIL/IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electronic assemblies (IPC-610, IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-883, NASA specs).
  • Manufacturing Execution System experience.

There are many factors that influence final salary, including location, contract requirements, experience, skills, education, and certifications. We offer competitive compensation and a broad benefits package designed to support employees and their families, including healthcare, wellness, retirement, and time off.

The proposed salary range for this position is: $60,100 - $123,200.
